Tough bite for us this morning. We fished south yesterday and had a good catch. We got a report from the north that sounded very promising, so we headed up there today. Surface temp was 45.2 when we set up off the bank. We weren’t marking any fish, but a lot of the fish that were caught north yesterday were up high and weren’t showing up on their graphs, so we weren’t too worried. We had all our lines set and no bites, so we got a little worried. A 5 color core with an SS Burnt Bloody Nose took off and we boated our first fish.
It went again, but it was a small King that we were able to release. Our bites came slow after that. We missed a fish on a high Ninja Diver out 130 with an 8″ Flip Fin Paddle/Picked Sunshine Action Fly. Our chute rigger down 70 with an 11″ White Slick DW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took our biggest King. It went again down 80, but that one escaped.
We took a King on a 10 color core with an SS Wonder Veggie. We took a fish on a 7.5 color core with a Orange Glow Spoon and another King on a 10 color core with a Blue UV Spoon. Port high Ninja Diver out 130 went twice with an 8″ White Paddle/ Hot Head Fly.
We use and recommend Nova Tackle Deep Water Trolling Series Rods, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards & Divers, and Magnum MetalZ Down Riggers.
