We set up straight out and a little south this morning in 85 feet of water and put it on a south-southwest troll. The picture on our graph didn’t look good and the down temp on our Fish Hawk was a couple degrees warmer than I expected, but we continued setting lines hoping for the best. Had our divers and riggers set and were letting out our boards when the starboard out down fired with a pair of DW UV Beefeater spoons set at 58. It was a smaller King and the skunk was out. Before we could reset the rod the starboard low wire out 85 with an 8″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Glow Bule Bubble Action Fly took off with a big fish. The low wire on the other side ticking bottom with an 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Chrome Blue Yellow Dot Spin-N-Glo started pounding. Then the chute rigger down 80 with a big Kevin’s Girlfriend Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a DW UV Beefeater started taking drag. It was a good King hooked on the stacker. Great action, a triple header on the set! We boated a 15 lb. Laker on the low wire. A 16 lb. King on the other low wire and a 10 lb. King on the chute rigger. Our high slide diver with a regular size Bloody Nose out 150 took a smaller King as we were boating the last fish of the triple. Very good start. We turned northeast in 90 feet of water trying to get back in to 80 to 85 feet of water. We picked away at the fish the rest of the morning. We released small laker, boated a decent one and took another 15 pounder on the same port low wire. We broke off a big fish on a 7.5 color core with a SS Spotted Magic Man. We took a King on a 9 color core and missed one on a regular Fuzzy Bear Crazy Clown spoon. It has been a good producer for us and is pictured below. We took a King on our other 7.5 color core with a Yeck Fireball. We had a pair of Lemon Lime Super Slims with a strip of green glow tape down the center on an out down set at 45 that took a fish. We turned back south in the mid 58’s and worked mostly between 80 and 85 feet of water. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
