We fished north today setting up off the Bank. The water had warmed since the last time we were out. We only had a few rods set when our starboard out down with a mag Fuzzy Bear Blue Slice down 65 fired. There was a standard DW Blue Slice free sliding above it, but the King took the main bait. Our port out down with a pair of half a meal spoons were next. The fish ran under out chute rigger. It cut the line on the chute and broke off. A low wire Deeper Diver out 110 with a White Crush Two Face Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 110 took another King. We rerigged the chute rigger with a pair of mag Fuzzy Bear Shelly Snacks. It went 3 times down 80 feet. Twice on the main bait and once on the stacker that was pinned 15 feet above the main bait. We lost a nice fish right at the back of the boat on a low wire Deeper Diver out 100 with an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. We had trouble keeping them hooked up on our meat rigs. We had 4 bites on meat and only landed one. Two on an 8″ Senaca Special Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig on a high wire diver out 170. One on a 250 copper with an 8″ Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Green Gasoline DW Meat Rig. We lost a big fish after a long fight on a 300 copper with a UV Green Lizard Spin Doctor/Yellow Gasoline DW Meat Rig. I think that Spin Doctor has been discontinued. A big Cisco took a Steelie Ranger on a 7.5 color core. The south troll was tough. The current was strong from the north and the waves were from the south. We really had to bump up the speed to get a decent speed at the ball. Our crew did a good job on the rods despite some of the fish not wanting to come to the net. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
