Fished south of Ludington today setting up in 105 feet of water. We had 14 rods rigged for Kings and a Lake Trout rig on the chute rigger. Day light arrived and no bites – so we stared changing our riggers and divers over to Trout rigs. I was letting out a high wire diver with an 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Green Glow WhirlyGig and as soon as it touched bottom a nice Laker hit it. We were in 110 feet of water. The surface temp was 69 degrees and our Fish Hawk Probe down 50 feet was showing 44 degrees. Our next bite came on a 7.5 color core with a Super Slim Chilly Willy. It was screaming out line when our other 7.5 color core with the same bait took off with another big King. We were fighting the double when a 175 copper with a Natural Glow Captain’s Choice Cut Plug took off with another King. Couldn’t believe it, a triple header! We boated the 2 Kings on the Super Slim Chilly Willy’s. The King on the Natural Glow turned the hook and escaped. We were still on a south troll when we hit another King on a 9 color core with a Wonder Bread Captain’s Choice Cut Plug. That one ended up in the box. We picked away at the Trout the rest of the morning. Our 2 best Trout rods were our high wire divers. They both had 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctors trailed by DW WhirlyGigs. One was Green Glow and the other Chrome Blue with Glow Wings.
