Fished up north again today between 70 & 90 feet of water (fow). There was heavy boat traffic. We got boxed in and couldn’t get out until we were well north of the Point. Our morning bite was decent, 8 bites – 4 fish. Six of those bite came on plugs on 5 & 8 color cores. Our best plug was a Dreamweaver Lucky Charm Captain’s Choice Cut Plug and the Green Splatter Back Cut Plug was a close second. We had 3 diver bites today, 2 on a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Meat Rig out 125 on a high wire and 1 on a 10″ Showtime Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig out 70 on a low wire. Only 1 rigger bite, that was on an 11″ White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down 65 on the chute rigger. We only had a few bites after the morning flurry and finished 6 for 11.
Ludington Area Fishing Reports
8-23-13 Fishing Report
We have been fishing north the last two days between 110 and 180 feet of water (fow) . The morning bite has been good, and for us the afternoon bite yesterday was late. Our most consistent rod has been a high wire diver out 200 ft. with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Meat Rig. That same setup took a big King on a 200 copper today. A 10″ White Crush Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Meat Rig Meat Rig has been good on a 300 copper. Yesterday plugs were working on our 8 & 10 color cores, but not today. An 11″ White Crush Dreamweaver Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down 100 ft. on our chute rigger went 4 times. We had 85 down today because the water was a little colder and it went once. We didn’t have any spoon bites today. These fish are BIG. Most of todays catch was over 20 lbs. Our biggest, 25.65 lbs., came on a low wire diver out 125 ft. with a 10″ Chrome Frog Spin Doctor/Chrome Frog DW Meat Rig. We use Erie Dearie Meat on all our meat rigs.
