Wow, what a weekend. We fished out of Manistee on Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday competing in the Budweiser Pro/Am. The weather was great and the fishing very good. We fished pretty much straight out for the Ladies Classic on Friday. We had lots of bites and our Ladies did a great job fighting and netting the fish. We ended up in 1st place and also caught the biggest fish, a 17.6 lb. King. That King took an 8″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Meat Rig on a 400 copper. We fished the same water on Saturday. After the weigh in on Saturday we were in 5th place, 17 points out of 1st. We fished basically the same water, but set up in 80 fow in the 14’s and trolled nw. It started out slow, but was fairly steady all day. We boated 17 Kings but didn’t have a big one, nothing over 15 lbs. We didn’t think our catch was heavy enough to win, but we felt we would be in the top 5. It turned out that all the boats ahead of us couldn’t match their Saturday catches and dropped in the standings. When the weighing was done we ended up in 2nd place. Ludington boat “Hambone” edged us out by 0.2 lbs. Close, but no cigar! We ran a lot of stuff over the weekend. I would say our best set up was a 10″ Black Crush Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big water meat rig 75 ft. down on an out down. All in all it was a fun tournament and we plan on returning next year. We have a charter tomorrow and will post a Ludington report in the evening.

Fished the boat up to Manistee this morning. We will be fishing in the Ladies Pro/Am on Friday and the Budweiser Pro/Am on Saturday & Sunday. We set up in the 02’s in 140 fow water and trolled north. The wind was blowing hard out of the southwest so it was hard to get our speed where we like it – 1.9 to 2.3 at the ball on our Fish Hawk. We set our out downs at 55 & 65 feet and put the chute down 100. The water was really warm, 60 degrees on the surface and 59.6 down 100 feet. Before we could make any adjustments both out downs went and then the chute rigger. All our fish today came in 59 degree water. We trolled from the 02’s to the 16’s working between 100 & 250 fow. Our chute rigger with a 10″ White Crush Glow Blade Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly was our best rigger. Our wire divers were good. We had a 10″ Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Cold Steel Big Water Meat Rig on one high and a 10″ Blue Chrome NBK Spin Doctor/Blue Thunder Big Water Rig on the other. We ran a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig and a 10″ Dark Green Spin Doctor/Green Mile Meat on our lows. We were using Erie Dearie Herring strips on our meat rigs. Very few bites on our copper & cores. We took 2 Steelhead on 10 color cores and a King on a 450 copper. The action was never hot, we just picked away at them all morning.
