There was a light rain when we set up off the bank north of Ludington this morning. There were a decent number of marks on our graph, but they weren’t biting right away. We had everything set except our deepest coppers when we hit a fish on our port low wire diver out 125 with an 8″ Black White Crush Green Dot Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. It hit and was gone. That diver went one more time and we didn’t get that one either. Those were our only two diver bites.
Our port rigger down 85 first and then down 100 with a pair of Super Slim Half Green Jeans went several times. The stack was pinned 20 feet above the main bait. The same with the starboard out down set at 65. It had an SS Green Hulk stacked with a SS Half Green Jeans. We took 2 fish on the same rod on that out down.
The chute rigger down 105 with an 11″ DW White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a SS Half Green Jeans took our biggest King. It took the Paddle. Later in the trip we took a Laker on the same Paddle 150 down.
We took a couple fish on the stack too. Our 6 color, 10 color cores, 200, 250 275 & 300 coppers all took fish with Super Slim Spoons. One of our bigger Kings came on the 275 copper with a SS Soda. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire and our lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.

Starboard out down set at 85 had a SS Green Hulk and a SS Half Green Jeans stacked 10 feet above it. The chute rigger set at 120 had an 11″ White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a SS Half Green Jeans. All our bites on that were on the SS stacker until we moved out to deeper water. Port out down set at 105 had a pair of SS Half Green Jeans with the top bait stacked 20 feet above the main bait. It went several times and took a double on the same rod once. A 250 copper with a Super Slim Half Wonder Bread went twice. A 3oo copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Soda Spoon took a little bigger fish. A 350 copper with a SS Half Green Jeans went a couple time. We turned out on a northwest troll to deeper water.
We took a Lake Trout on the port out down set at 150 feet on the SS Half Green Jeans stack. Our biggest fish was a Laker that took our 11″ White Slick Paddle on the chute rigger 200 feet plus down. We were getting ready to pull lines when our chute rigger down deep hit a big King.
It put up a hard fight before getting off about 50 feet behind the boat, a real heartbreaker. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and pull our coppers and lead cores with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
