Very foggy fishing out of Ludington this morning. Our radar screen looked like it had chicken pocks when we set up in 120 feet of water south of the bath house. We troll on the slow side so I figured the boats would end up ahead of me. I was wrong. We were in a pack most of the morning. The action started a little slow for us. Starboard out down set at 70 with a pair of mag Fuzzy Bear Shelly Snacks took a hit that wasn’t on for long. Took a fish on a 10 color core with a mag Raspberry Carbon. Port high wire diver out 150 with a mag Fuzzy Bear Shelly Snack went once early. Port low wire out 100 went with an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. A 7.5 color core took a fish on a Yeck Wart Frog. Starboard low wire out 135 took 2 mature Kings on an 8″ Chrome Frog Flip Fin Paddle, fin deployed.
A 225 copper with a Printed DW Soda Spoon took a fish. We had a rip on an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly on a 325 copper that didn’t hook up.
Our chute rigger with an 11″ White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action went 3 times at 80 feet. We were getting ready to pull lines north of the Point when the port high wire diver with a custom Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly hooked up with a big mature King. We pulled all our rods except the chute rigger. We were marking a few fish near bottom, so we dropped it down to 195 feet. It went with a good Lake Trout. We boated the Trout and the King too. It was a nice way to end the trip. We use Morgan’s copper and wire and pull our lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
