Fished south of Ludington today setting up in 60 feet of water. We hit a double right away on two of our wire divers then a third diver started thumping. We got two of the three. Figured we were off to a great start. We hit a few more on our south troll but only managed to land one of them. We were working between 55 & 65 feet of water. Just before we turned back south we hooked up with a nice King on a 7.5 color core with a Super Slim UV Green Leopard. We had it right to the back of the boat when the hooks pulled. We talked to another charter fishing a little deeper than we were and they were having better action than us. So on our north troll we moved out and fished between 70 & 80 feet of water. We took three fish out there but it was no big deal for us. When we turned back south we moved back in to 60 feet and started hitting fish. Don’t know if they moved back into that water or they just decided to bite, but we finished up in there. Our best rig, pictured above, was a Blue Chrome WhirlyGig with glow wings behind a 8″ Chrome Mountain Dew Spin Doctor on our low wire divers. We had them right on the bottom. We hit another King on that same 7.5 color core. We were running it off Dreamweaver’s new Ninja Speed Planner Board. Today is the first time we have used it. We are impressed. It comes off the line using just one hand. It didn’t pull any harder than a Walleye Board and tracks well. The second King we hit made a big run with board still on the line. The board didn’t sink. We ended up losing the fish but we liked the way the board performed. We had a harder time today getting our fish, but all is well that ends well. It ended well.
