Ran our first trip of the year this morning. After 3 days of hard north northwest winds we weren’t sure what we would we find when we set up south of Ludington. The surface temp was 44 degrees and the down temp was 39,5. We had both low wire divers and the chute rigger on or near the bottom. We had Slide Divers with spoons out for our high divers and ran various lead cores from 3 to 7.5 color cores hoping to catch a King or two. No King bites. We did take a Laker on a 5 color core with a standard size UV Bloody Nose. We marked lots of suspended bait and not many fish. We had a total of 6 bites and landed 5 fish, all Trout. It was quality over quantity this morning. Three of our fish we over 15 lbs. and one other was close to that. Our biggest was 23.52 lbs. on a certified scale at Captain Chucks II in Ludington. It came on a low wire diver ticking bottom with an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Chrome Blue Glow Wing Spin-N-Glo. That rig went 3 times. Our other low wire also ticking bottom had an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Mountain Dew WhirlyGig. It went twice. It was a beautiful day to be fishing out of Ludington.
