The buoy off Ludington showed waves at 3 feet when we pulled out of Ludington Harbor. We had a hardy crew that wanted to fish so we headed north. We set up by the bath house off the shelf and trolled north. The Lake really wasn’t as rough as we thought it would be so it wasn’t hard to get on a good troll. As we were setting our last diver both out downs went. They were smaller fish and we boated 1 of them. The low wire with a mag DW Blue Spotted Dolphin went out 85 and we missed that one. Chute rigger down 90 went with an 11″ Kevin’s Girlfriend DW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly and we missed that one too. Not off to a good start but at least we got 1 of them. We had a regular size Dreamweaver UV Beefeater free sliding above a mag DW UV Beefeater on one out down set at 75. It went twice, both times they took the slider. The other out down at 65 had a DW Green Skinny Jeans free sliding above a mag Fuzzy Bear Green Skinny Jeans. We took a smaller King on the free slider and one of our bigger fish on the main bait. We moved both out downs 15 feet lower later in the morning and lost a King on the UV Beefeater free slider. The water temp 75 down showed 49 degrees on our Fish Hawk. We had bites on our 200, 225, 250, and 275 coppers all with spoons. The only lead core we had out was a 7.5 color with a Spotted Super Slim Magic Man. We took a shaker on that. Our last fish came on an 8″ Closer Spin Doctor/Green Gasoline DW meat rig out 175 on a high wire Deeper Diver. Our trip today was a 5 hour half day. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
