We headed north this morning hoping to duplicate yesterday’s action, that didn’t happen. About halfway there the surface temp started dropping. The north and east wind cooled the water down. It got down to 47 on the surface but it started to warm the further north we ran. We set down it 120 feet of water in 52 degree water. We got all our rods set and were waiting for our first bite. There were several boats up there and we didn’t see any nets hitting the water. We finally got a bite. It was a King that came on a 9 color core with a regular size Crazy Clown Fuzzy Bear spoon. We took a smaller King on it on a 7.5 color core later in the morning. We were marking fish but they weren’t biting. We decided to head out on a west troll off the Point to try it out deep. We went out to 450 feet of water and only had one bite. It was a smaller King on a 225 copper with a Two Face spoon. We turned back east and took a Trout off the bottom on an 8″ White Crush Pink Dot Spin Doctor/White Pink Dot Spin-N-Glo. After talking to some friends fishing straight out of Ludington and south we pulled and ran. They weren’t killing many fish but they were doing better than we were. We set up in 70 feet of water and trolled south. All our rods weren’t set when we hit a Laker on high wire diver ticking bottom with an 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Chrome Yellow Spin-N-Glo. It ended up shaking the hook and escaped. We took a nice Coho on a low wire diver with an 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Chrome Blue Yellow Dot WhirlyGig. We took another fish on the Two Face on a 10 color core and a small King on a SS Lemon Lime spoon 55 down. We only ran one meat rig and it didn’t go. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
