Rain and a strong east wind were the conditions this morning as we pulled out of Ludington harbor and headed north. Our plan was to ride the bank down to the Point in 100 feet of water, but the east wind kept pushing us out and we ended up working between 130 & 150 most of the morning. It was a slow start for us. We had all our rods set and had to wait a while for our first bite. It came on our chute rigger down 85 with a big Kevin’s Girlfriend Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. It was only on for a minute and was gone. It turned the hook. We boated our first fish, a Laker, on a high wire Deeper Diver out 145 with a regular size DW Super Bread. It went 3 more times today. We took a smaller King on a 7.5 color core with a Super Slim Spotted Magic Man. We took a bigger King on it later in the morning. Our biggest King came on a high wire Deeper Diver on an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Our second biggest King came on a mag size Dreamweaver UV Green Skinny Jeans on a 250 copper. We took a King on Yeck Wart Frog on a 10 color core. We ran a pair of Wart Frogs on an out down 45 down for a little while and hit a quick hit on them but no hookup. A 225 copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Green Jeans took a good fish. It rained all morning. We were glad our clients came prepared. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
