Slow fishing for our first trip. We decided to set up straight out and a little south of Ludington today. Capt. Mike of Lie-A-Lot Charters had a good day there yesterday so we thought it would be a good spot to start. We started setting lines and trolling northwest with the waves. The surface temp was 55 degrees yesterday but was 47 today. It dropped to 46 before we had half our lines set. We weren’t marking any fish and I was not feeling good about the situation. We pulled lines and ran back south where we started yesterday. The surface temp was 55 degrees in 100 feet of water. We took a Lake Trout right away bouncing bottom on our chute rigger with an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Prototype Clown WhirlyGig. It was slow going after that. We went in as far as 85 ft. and out to 130. We marked very few fish and had no Salmon bites. We took four more Trout on our riggers.
