Time to catch up on our last few trips. Wednesday we fished north between 110 & 130 feet of water and had pretty good action and caught some nice fish. We were entered into the Ludington Legon’s Tournament the next day and felt we had a decent program for the tournament. Well the north wind blew and our plans changed. We ran way north and setup in 140 feet of water a couple miles south of Manistee. The bite was over when we got there and we only took 1 fish, a Laker, 120 out on a high wire diver with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig. We pulled lines and ran back south setting up in 100 feet of water 4 miles north of the Point. We hit a double on good sized Kings before we had all our lines set. The first one came on the same meat rig that the Laker took and the second came on a 10 color core with a standard DW UV Green Skinny Jeans. We took 4 more fish and our best 5 fish weight total was 57.45 lbs. That was good for 9th palace out of 71 boats. The Ladies Tournament was next. We set up straight out of Ludington in 60 feet of water. The format for this tourney is weigh your best 5 fish but you can’t weigh more than 3 of the same species. We wanted to get 2 Lakers then pull lines and head north to fish for Kings. We hit 2 Lakers but only boated 1 of them. We pulled and ran north but the big Kings were hard to come by for us. We picked up a couple more Lakers and 5 Kings. So we had our 5 fish to weigh. We only had one bigger King and finished 10th out of 23 pro boats. We had a lot fun with our crew and they did a great job fighting and landing our catch. Our biggest king came on a 10 color core with the Super Slim Green Hulk. We have struggled to catch big fish our last two trips. We fished north on the 16th and the pierheads then straight out in 80 feet trying for Lake Trout today. No luck on the Lakers. Our biggest fish at the pierheads was a Coho that came on a 7.5 color core with the SS Green Hulk. That bait has been a consistent producer for us. The 1st picture is our catch from the 13th. 2nd an action shot of our double header during the Legon’s Tourney. 3rd our biggest King during the Ladies Tourney and 4th was our catch. The next 2 are of our last 2 trips. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper and wire.
