Fishing has improved at Ludington the last couple days. The water is still colder than it usually is this time of year. We have been fishing north starting the morning in 90 t0 130 feet of water (fow) and after the morning bite moving out to 140 to 220 fow. For us it’s been a plug bite early and then mainly Spin Doctors and meat rigs. Our best plug has been a Natural Glow Captain’s Choice Cut Plug. We’ve been running plugs on our 3, 5, 7.5 color cores and all 3 riggers. Today our 2 out downs were set at 20 & 25 and the chute was down 40. The morning bite for us was much better today than yesterday. Our wire divers were good all morning. We had one low back 65 with a 10″Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig and on the same side we also had it on a high wire out 100. They both took fish but the low was better than the high. The other high wire diver was a 10′ Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Green Gasoline Dreamweaver Meat Rig out 110. It got bit several times. We switched our 7.5 & 10 color cores over to meat rigs, pulled our 3 color cores and put out 200 & 250 coppers. The 7.5 cores didn’t go but both 10’s went. One had a 10’Green Sparkle Spin Doctor/Green UV Big Water Meat Rig and the other was a 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Rig. We had 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend/Green Miles on our 200 & 250 coppers. They both took fish. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.
