We fished south of Ludington and started on a west troll. The water was colder today, 40 degrees down 60 feet on our Fish Hawk. We had all 13 rods set before we hit our first fish. It came on an out down set at 60 feet with a standard Soda spoon. Our 175 copper went next and it was game on. We had great action all morning. Our starboard out down with a pair of standard prototype Dreamweaver Soda spoons were hot. The main bait was down 55 and we had the other bait free sliding. It went at least 4 times. Both the slider and the main took fish. Our 200 copper with a #3 Glow Black Ladder Back went once after the sun came up. We swapped out the plug for a standard DW Double Orange Lazer spoon. It took a nice King. Our 250 with a mag Fuzzy Bear Orange Slice went once today. It has been one our best rods but was taking a break today. The chute rigger down 75 with an 11″ White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a mag Fuzzy Bear UV Blue Skinny Jeans went 3 times, twice on the stack and once on the paddle. Our divers were good.
Our port low wire #5 Deeper Diver out 85 with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig went twice with big Kings. We boated one and the other one bent the hook and got off. Our high port #4 Deeper Diver out 190 with a 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went several times and took our biggest King. Our starboard # 5 low wire Deeper Diver with an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 125 was good too taking 2 big Kings and a big Coho. We started out with an 8″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly on our high #4 wire Deeper Diver out 170. It didn’t go so we dropped it back to 210 and it still didn’t go. We replaced it with a 8″ DW Green Dragon Slayer Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Fly and took a couple fish on it. We had about a 20-minute dry spell, so we turned back east. We had heard the east troll had been slow, but it was good today. We had fantastic action with good size fish and our crew did a good job on the rods. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s tackle copper and wire.
