Toughest day of the season so far for us today. We started out at the pierheads. The screen on our graph looked good, lots of fish and bait. We fished there for a couple hours and didn’t have a bite. We pulled lines and ran north setting up in 100 feet of water just south of the Point. Surface temp on our Fish Hawk was 61.2 degrees and it was 41 down 50 feet. We took it about 3 miles north without a bite. The down temp had warmed to 51 degrees. We turned it out toward deeper water when our chute rigger with a Trout rig took a hit. We missed it. Our 7 1/2 color core with a glow plug was next and the fish escaped. We turned back south in 200 feet of water. The down temp at 50 feet was 60 out there. We angled it in toward the Point and hit a fish on a high wire diver out 165 with an 8″ Chrome Kevorkian Spin Doctor/Liquid Sunshine Action Fly. That fish got tangled in our chute rigger and got away. Time was running out and it was beginning to smell like a skunk when our 7 1/2 color core went again. It was a Coho and we boated it. Whew! Very tough day. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and pull our coppers and cores with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
