The weather forecast didn’t look good, but our crew came to fish, so we headed up north to try our luck. It was 48 degrees at 50 feet on our Fish Hawk. We had 3 bites before we got a good hook up. It came on a 225 copper with a Bloody Nose spoon. Our high wire #4 Deeper Diver out 179 went with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly was next. Then the port out down set at 65 with a pair of prototype standard Dreamweaver Soda spoons went and the chute rigger down 70 with a 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Glow Blue Bubble Action Fly stacked with a standard DW Blue Slice spoon went too. It was a Laker on the chute rigger that took the stack. Our starboard low wire #5 Deeper Diver out 90 with a Captain’s Choice Wonder Bread Cut Plug went with a big King. Five fish on! It was crazy on the back of the boat. We ended up only boating 2 of the fish, but it was fun for a while. The Kevin’s Girlfriend/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 170 on a high wire went 2 more times. The DW prototype Soda spoons have been hot and took 3 fish today. They are not on the market yet but look for them next spring or sooner. Our low wire #5 Deeper Diver out 80 with an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went twice. The seas kept building and a couple of our crew were a under the weather, so we cut the trip short and came in a little early. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper and wire.
