We got off to a slow start this morning off the bank north of Ludington. Started on a north troll but didn’t hit a fish until we turned back south.
The water kept getting warmer to the north, so we turned back south to fish in the colder water. First bite came on a 350 copper with a mag Half Wonder Bread spoon.
We missed a fish and took a Steelhead on a Yeck Fireball on a 325 copper.
Took a big Coho on a low wire diver out 185 with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. Our biggest King came on a high wire diver out 350 with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. Took another Coho on standard Bloody Mahi stacked above a mag Bloody Mahi down 100. Missed a fish on a 400 copper on a mag Black Green Glow spoon. We were just getting ready to pull lines when the chute rigger down 160 with an 11″ Green White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly popped. It came in with our second biggest King. It’s always nice to end the trip with a big fish.

While those 2 were on our starboard low wire out 85 with an 8″ Chrome Frog Flip Fin/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly hooked up with a big fish, but that one got away.
We had a couple spoon bites on a 200 copper but didn’t get either one. Starboard out down with a pair of SS Sodas went twice. The first time they were down 55 and later down 70. Both times the fish hit the stacks. We hit a double as we were pulling lines. A mature King hit a high wire diver out 125 with a Custom Chrome Flip Fin/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. It took out a lot of wire and was on for a while, but it made one last long run and got off. A 250 copper with that same Custom Flip Fin /Fly set up that went 3 times. Two escaped but we boated a nice Steelhead right after we lost the King on the high diver.
So, we ended the trip on a high note. We run Morgan’s copper and wire and use Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in our meat rigs.
