Ludington Area Fishing Reports

We fished southwest of Ludington this morning. The surface temp was 61.2 degree, and it was 48 down 50 feet. We put it on a north-northwest troll. We hit our first fish on a 7.5 color core with an orange glow spoon. It was a nice King. A 3 color core with a Yeck Double Orange Crush went next but we missed it. Took a small Steelhead on the 7.5 color core with the glow spoon. Our chute rigger down 85 with an 11″ White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went and we took another King. It went again a little later only this time the fish took a standard Green Hulk stacked above it. That one got away. We took a Laker on a 5 color core with a Gold Yeck Fireball. We missed a fish on an 8″ Chrome Two Face Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly and a Yeck Glow M&M 35 down on an out down. Had another hit on our 3 color that didn’t hook up. We use Morgan’s copper and wire and pull our lead cores and copper with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.

We fished a 5 hour trip this morning at the Ludington pierheads. Surface temp was 61 degrees and it was 59 down 20 feet on our Fish Hawk. We hit a fish in the dark on a low Slide Diver out 38 with a Natural Glow Captain’s Choice Cut Plug. It wasn’t on long, and it was gone. We took our first King on a 3 color core with a #3 Pinkie Plug. Fist Mate Abe had a # 3 Dreamweaver Trip Z diver out 135 with a standard glow spoon out the back of the boat and we doubled up when that went. It was another King. We didn’t have the action we had yesterday. Some fish were being taken inside the harbor so we made the rounds in there for few a few passes. We took a small King on an out down set at 20 with a standard glow spoon and lost a big fish on a 3 color core with a #3 Chrome J Plug. We changed a lot of baits but couldn’t coax another bite. The boys did a great job landing the double header. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire and pull our lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
