It was nice to be back on the water after a 6 day layoff. We were on a fun fishing trip this morning. We had heard good reports about fishing a little north in 60 feet of water. We set up and trolled north. Not any fish on our screen so we continued north. Talked to a boat ahead of us and they were hitting fish out deeper. There are a lot of small fish out there now and our 1st fish was a throwback King. It came on a 5 color core with an SS Burnt Bloody Nose. We released another small King that took a Goat spoon on a 3 color core. A high wire Ninja diver out 70 took our first keeper King on a regular size glow spoon. Our starboard out down took 2 fish on the same rod down 56. The keeper came on a Goldie Locks free sliding above a green glow spoon. We took a Laker on an SS Blue Jeans stacked above an 11″ White Slick Paddle down 80. Our biggest King came on a Yeck Sunshine spoon that hit on a 5 color core when it was going out.
We took 2 fish on a high wire Ninja diver out 100 on a Steelie Ranger. We kept a small King that was bleeding on a 10 color core with a SS Wonder Veggie. If one of high lead core rods was dead, it was almost sure to have a small King riding on it. We threw 4 small Kings back and had to keep 2. Our King bite died so we pulled lines ran back south to Trout fish. We took 2 Trout on our starboard high Ninja diver ticking bottom with an 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Glow Spin-N-Glo. Took 2 Trout on the chute rigger bouncing bottom with an 8″ UV Spin Doctor/Blue Chrome Spin-N-Glo, and 1 more on our port high Ninja diver ticking bottom with a Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Double Trouble Spin-N-Glo.
We use and recommend Nova Tackle Deep Water Series Trolling Rods, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards & Divers, and Magnum MetalZ Down Riggers.
