Fished the Ludington pierheads this morning on a 5 hour trip. The waves were bigger than predicted, but still very fishable. We took our first fish on a 3 color core with a #3 Pinkie plug. While the young man was fighting it a low Slide Diver out 35 with a Natural Glow Captain’s Choice Cut Plug took off. His brother got that one. We missed a fish on the 3 color with the Pinkie.
We lost a big fish on a 2 color core with a standard Green Hulk. We took a King on that same spoon 20 down on a rigger and took a Coho on an orange glow spoon stacked 5 feet above it. The 3 color with the Pinkie went again and we boated a nice King on it. We took another King on a 5 color core with a # 3 Gray Ghost plug. Our crew is from Kentucky. They had fun on their first trip to Ludington and are looking forward to fishing with us again tomorrow. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire and pull our lead cores and copper with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
Ludington Area Fishing Reports
9-15-23 Fishing Report
We set up at the Ludington pierheads this morning. We marked quite a few fish on our first pass. We hit 4 fish and boated 3 Kings. After the first pass the fish disappeared from our graph. When we were pulling lines to run out deep we took a Coho on a 5 color core with a #3 Double Glow Plug and we lost a big fish on a 3 color core with a #3 Pinkie Plug. Our first 4 bites came on 3 & 5 color cores with #3 glow plugs. Two friends caught some fish out deep up north yesterday, so we put it on a 330 heading and ran out. We found a slight surface temp break around 320 feet of water and set up there. W trolled northwest out to 400 without a bite so we made a northeast troll. We took a Steelhead on a 5 color core on a Yeck Gold Fireball. We worked back into 250 feet of water without another bite. When we pulled lines, we had a small Coho riding on a 3 color core with a Yeck Fireball. No rigger bites and no diver bites this morning. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire. We pull our lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
